Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign

The Embassy of India would like to inform that the Department of Posts, Government of India is organizing a letter writing campaign at international level engaging the Indian diaspora. The title of the Campaign is “Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign” and the theme will be “Letter to My Motherland”. The ‘Letter to My Motherland’ is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s “Amar Desher Mati”. Details of the Campaign and a template of a pamphlet prepared by Department of Posts are attached.

All Non-resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin living outside India are eligible to participate in the International Level Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign. The campaign will have two categories viz. up to 18 years and above 18 years. The letter is to be handwritten on plain A-4 size paper with a word limit not exceeding 1000 words; it can be written in English or Hindi. A scanned copy of the letter can be submitted on the MyGov Portal by 30.9.2018; however it is compulsory that a hard copy of the letter bearing dispatch postmark of not later than 30.9.2018 be sent by post. As mentioned above, only handwritten letters posted by 30.9.2018 will be accepted.

All the letters received from the Indian diaspora residing in foreign countries will be evaluated by constituting Committees at the Postal Directorate level. The top three letters in each category will be awarded prizes as follows:

-      First Prize in each category:      Rs.50,000/-

-      Second Prize in each category:Rs.25,000/-

-      Third Prize in each category:     Rs.10,000/-
