6th Edition of International Folk Dance and Music Festival

2nd - 4th December 2019

The Embassy of India in Norway would like to inform that the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is planning to organise the 6th Edition of International Folk Dance and Music Festival from 2nd - 4th December 2019 in New Delhi.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India’s first Education Minister. The main objective is to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India’s external cultural relations; to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries; to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people; and to develop relations with the nations.

The Fifth Edition of the festival held in December 2018 was a big success where groups from Iran, Korea, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Sri Llanka and Russia participated. In addition to the 3-day Festival in Delhi, the visiting groups also performed in other cities like Pune, Guwahati, Shillong, Mumbai, Kurukshetra, Noida, Bhopal, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Hyderabad.

The Embassy will recommend a Norwegian Folk Group (Maximum 10-12 members) for consideration of the ICCR to participate in the 6th Edition of International Folk Dance and Music Festival. The preference would be given to the group which has not visited India earlier. ICCR would also explore the possibility of organizing additional performances of the selected group in one or two other cities in India. Depending on the performance arranged, the group could be in India for 7-8 days. The duration of the performance could be approx. 45 minutes in Delhi while the duration in other cities could be between 60-75 minutes.

ICCR will provide local hospitality including board/lodging, intercity travel and local transportation, facilitation of visa for India, cost on presentation of programme including venue, technical and publicity for the event. The sending side or the group will have to bear the cost of international transportation, medical insurance and performance charges/fees, if any.

Interested groups are requested to send their response directly to Shri Mahinder Sehgal, Programme Director (ICD), email pdexb.iccr@gov.in and Contact no + 91 11 23370794 not later than Tuesday, 15th October 2019. In case of any further query, kindly contact the Embassy at email: indemb6@indemb.no, tel: 24115923.
