Commemoration of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji 

The Embassy of India in Norway would like to inform that the Government of India has announced to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji, which falls in 2019, throughout the country and across the globe, in a grand and befitting manner along with State Governments and the Indian Missions abroad. Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings of love, peace, equality and brotherhood have eternal value. 

In this regard, the Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has passed a Resolution taking several decisions including i) Celebrations throughout the country and globally; ii) Development of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor; iii) Development of Sultanpur Lodhi; iv) Centre for inter faith studies and Chairs in foreign Universities; v) Commemorative coin and stamps; vi) Religious activities and publications; and vii) Special train for pilgrims.
