Andhra Pradesh Energy Innovation Summit

The Embassy of India in Norwaywould like to inform thatthe Government of Andhra Pradesh is hosting Andhra Pradesh Energy Innovation Summitfrom 28 - 29 November 2018 at Hotel Novotel, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India,to shape the future of energy sector in Andhra Pradesh. 
Andhra Pradesh has been at the forefront of the energy sector and has won 20 plus awards in this sector during 2015 to 2017. From a power deficit  State of 22.5 MU per day in 2014, the State has become a power surplus State and has lowered its transmission & distribution losses from 14% to less than 10% within a short span of time. In addition to augmenting both conventional and renewable energy production, the State has also enhanced energy efficiency through massive installation of LED bulbs and solar pump sets.

The state has a challenging vision for the energy sector which includes:

  1. Setting up of 18 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022
  2. Reducing transmission and distribution losses to less than 3%
  3. Ensuring 10 lakh (1 million) Electric Vehicles on road by 2023, attracting an investment of INR 30,000 crores (~ USD 4.5 billion)
  4. Ensuring 24x7 reliable power supply for all domestic, commercial and industrial users by 2019
  5. Rolling out energy efficiency measures to save 12000 MU of electricity annually.

The five central themes of the summit are Conventional Energy, Renewables, Grid up-gradation, Energy Efficiency and E-Mobility.

The Summit will bring together energy sector experts from a wide range of organizations including private sector, international agencies, donors, investors, independent think tanks, research institutions and governments to share technology innovations, best practices and ideas for transforming the energy landscape in the state. It will also showcase innovations in the energy and renewable sector from across the globe and highlights solutions for emerging economies.

The Summit offers a unique opportunity for sharing of ideas and, insights with key stakeholders from the Government. And also an opportunity for discussing the challenges faced and to find solutions.

15th CII GLOBAL SME BUSINESS SUMMIT 2018

Expo and a Buyer Seller Meet for Indian Handmade Carpets
12th and 13 November, 2018
Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Centre, Alna, Oslo

I would like to inform you that the Embassy of India in cooperation with the Carpet Export Promotion Council of India, under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, will be organizing an Expo and a Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) for Indian handmade carpets on 12th and 13th November, 2018 at Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Centre, Alna, Oslo. For this purpose, a group of 15 handmade carpet exporter companies from India will be visiting Norway. A number of Norwegian carpet importers have confirmed their participation for the BSM.

The Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) is a non-profit making organization which was setup in 1982 by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It was setup to promote the export of all types of handmade, hand-knotted and hand-tufted carpets, rugs, floor coverings and other allied products from India. CEPC has been the voice of the entire business community of Indian carpets since 1982. It has more than 2500 members across the country.

India has been one of the leading exporters of handmade carpets and the event will be a unique opportunity for retailers, buyers and interior designers to experience the richness, variety and exquisite beauty of Indian handmade carpets for the first time in Norway. Since all the key members of the Indian carpet industry will be present at the event, Norway-based importers can have a direct dialogue with the exporters and create exciting business opportunities. The event will go a long way in paving ways to strengthen Norway-India business relations as well.

INDUS FOOD 2018

Brief Description of the Event: The first edition of “INDUS FOOD” 2018, a Global Food & Beverage Reverse Buyer Seller Meet was held at India Exposition Mart, Greater Noida, India between 18-19 January, 2018. The event was organized by Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and supported by the Department of Commerce, Government of India, with the primary objective to create a global platform for Indian exporters from F&B sector and boost bilateral trade ties.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry (CIM), GOI. The show attendance comprised of 320 Indian F&B exporters who exhibited in 12 different Food clusters namely Consumer Foods, Fruits & Vegetables, Spices, Beverages, Oil & Oilseeds, Dairy & Dairy Products etc. products in completely pre-equipped booths. Colossal attendance was seen in the form of 455 foreign participants from 40 different countries mainly the decision makers from leading Importers, Supermarket Chains, Government Bodies, and Major Wholesale Groups etc. Also, 10 States including Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, J&K, Kerala, and Jharkhand had their own pavilions at the event. Among other activities, the 2-day event included roundtable official, presentations and B2B dialogues which attracted a large number of stakeholders from both sides.

Details of Indian Exhibitors

      1. Number of Exhibitors : 320 included DS Group, KRBL, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable, Patanjali, Marico, ITC, Amul, Kohinoor, Premier Tea, Tata Global Beverages, Wagh Bakri, Everest Spices, Hamdard to name a few.

      2. Ten states including Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, J & K, Kerala, and Jharkhand had their own pavilions at the event. North East states also established their presence with display of Naturally Grown organic products

      3. Besides, APEDA, MPEDA, SPICE BOARD, TEA BOARD, COFFEE BOARD were the co-organizers of the 1st Edition of Indus Food apart from various trade associations as supporting partners such as IOPEPC, ITA, AIREA, AIDA, IPGA, SOPA, CEPCI, ICMA, All India Spices Exporters Forum to name a few.

      4. Participants Feedback (in brief) : The general opinion of the Indian Exporters was that more activities of this fashion should be encouraged in the Indian sub-continent to be able to host a global food trade platform like Gulf Food, Dubai. When such large scale annual event will take place in India, it will boost the confidence of the exporters as they can connect with their global counterparts in their home country which will pave the path to better utilization of the resources.

Suggestions/Improvements indicated: It was advised by the Industry stakeholders & Think Tanks to conduct the Exhibition in the month of December owing to severe climate in January, proximity to the Gulf Food, 2018 dates etc.

  3. Visitors’ feedback (in brief): The Buyers were happy to find all the products under one roof. According to them “INDUS FOOD” has been able to create a niche for itself. It was a platform for exchange of ideas, networking & business development for them

Outcome analysis by the Council / Trade Bodies

We feel that the huge demand by the foreign buyers at the INDUSFOOD in food and beverages sector and India’s surplus potential to meet this demand requires policy decisions in economic diplomacy by both DOC and MEA. In other words, the surplus produce of Indian farmers could get access to the foreign markets by addressing the bottlenecks. The large number of foreign credible participants and foreign big ticket buyers at the first edition of the INDUSFOOD shows that the event was a grand success. If the feedback from the Indian exhibitors and the foreign buyers/participants is anything to go by, we can convincingly say that the event was a platform that created a win-win situation for both sides, as well as established a clear path for India to be able to host a global food trade platform.

Orders by the foreign buyers (and those in pipeline), is a clear indication that the criteria and other parameters for selection of buyers worked well. Given that the growth in the agriculture sector in India is on the decline, such export promotion measures in this sector will perhaps encourage the sector to reverse the trend. TPCI worked in tandem with the DOC and MEA (and Indian missions) and other govt. agencies to achieve the success.
