VID hosted the Indian Ambassador to Norway on Friday 17 December, in connection with VID sending a large group of nursing students to India in the spring of 2022 for exchange and practice.

VID is very pleased that Dr. Bala Bashkar thinks that this is an exciting development, and that the ambassador is willing to support both students and the collaboration initiative between VID and Indian universities.

The Norwegian Embassy in India is also very positive about the collaboration, and has invited VID's students in India to visit the Norwegian Embassy in Delhi, in April.

Students from VID to India

The student group that goes to India in 2022 can expect a good reception and a safe environment around the stay, despite the current demanding situation related to the Covid pandemic.

Since 2010, VID, together with the institutions before the merger, has sent close to 100 students on internships in nursing, social care, and social work to India. As a result, VID has made a name for itself nationally by being the Norwegian educational institution
that sends the absolute largest number of students to India.

Supported by PANORAMA strategy

In recent times, the activity has received increased focus on collaboration with Indian universities, which opens up new opportunities. Cooperation in higher education between Norway and India is supported by the Norwegian PANORAMA strategy, which highlights India as an important partner for Norway.

Norway has developed several funding mechanisms that support cooperation on education and research between Norwegian and Indian institutions, and VID will look more closely at the opportunities inherent in these.

VID looks forward to continued good cooperation with Indian partners, with good support from the Indian Embassy in Norway , and the Norwegian Embassy in India.
