1. Visa Services
All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.
2. E-visa:
Applicants can apply for e-visa directly at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html and pay the requisite fee online. The applicants will receive their e-visa granted by the Bureau of Immigration on their respective e-mail id. The applicants may also check their e-visa status at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/StatusEnquiry. For queries related to e-visa, please write at [email protected]
3. Regular Paper Indian Visa:
Please be advised that with effect from January 2, 2024, Embassy of India, Oslo has discontinued its contract with BLS International Services Norway AS and will be handling regular paper Indian Visa services at the Embassy itself.
4. All applicants, desirous of applying for a regular paper visa, should follow the following five steps:
i. Fill the visa application online at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in
ii. Take a printout of the online filled visa application form and attach all relevant documents
iii. Apply for online appointment at the following Google page:click here
iv. Visit the Embassy at the designated time and date and submit the application, requisite documents and fee as well as provide biometric data.
v. Applicant will be informed when the visa is ready collection. Passport can be dispatched by post, if self addressed prepaid envelope is submitted along with visa application.
II. General Information
i. The Embassy of India, Oslo issues various types of visas to Norwegian nationals and to the nationals of other countries. The initial step is to fill the visa application from https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/and submit along with the required documents and fees.
ii. The applicants should submit their visa applications together with all relevant documents.
iii. The Mission issues regular paper visas only. It has no role in issuing/processing of e-visa. In addition, their is no need of any intermediary for applying e-visa.
iv. When applying for a visa, the passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months or more. The passport must have at least three blank pages and should not be mutilated / damaged / tampered in any manner.
v. The acceptance of a visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa. The Embassy, at its discretion may refuse visa or issue visa, which may not be exactly as requested by the Visa applicant. Decision of the Embassy of India, Oslo on the matter shall be final.
vi. It is strongly advised that applicants do not make any travel arrangements before obtaining an Indian visa. The Embassy of India cannot, under any circumstances, be held responsible for non-issuance of visa in time.
vii. Fees and Refund: Visa application will only be processed after fee is deposited. The amount of fee collected will depend on the visa service requested. Once the fee is paid, it cannot be refunded even if visa is not issued. However, in case of excess or multiple payments, the excess payment will be refunded. One has to apply to the nodal officer (Shri S. Magesh Kumar, Second Secretary (Consular), email : [email protected] ) for the refund of excess payment within three months of such excess / multiple payment with proof.
ix. The prospective visa seekers will need to visit the Embassy for the purpose of capture of biometric data. It may be noted that the following visa applicants are exempted from capturing of the biometric data.
a. All diplomatic passport holders.
b. Applicants who are eligible for diplomatic and official visa.
c. All visa applicants, regardless of the type of passport, who are more than 70 years old or less than 12 years old.
III. Attention for applicants
A. Fraudulent calls
The Embassy of India, Oslo advises all NRIs/PIOs living in Norway that no attention should be paid to calls by fraudsters threatening with deportation or fines due to some wrong entries made in immigration forms and asking to pay money to settle the case, even if the calls come from Indian Embassy`s number. The Indian Embassy never asks for payment through Western Union or any other money transfer agencies. Report such cases to police and to the Embassy at [email protected] immediately.
B. Surrogacy
Any person seeking a visa to India for purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of that country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangement under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under the Indian law. Applicants are advised to contact the Consular Section of the Embassy before making surrogacy arrangement.
C. Import of Satellite Phones to India
Applicants may please note that satellite telephone services are not permitted in India (except for Inmarsat services provided through M/s Tata Communications Limited, but only in instances where No Objection Certificates have been issued by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, on case to case basis.) Satellite telephone through Thuraya and other such sets is unauthorized in the country and, if such sets are detected, the equipment is liable to be seized. The holders making unauthorized use of satellite telephone services are liable to be prosecuted under the relevant provisions of the Indian Wireless Act and the Indian Telegraph Act.
2. In case of import of satellite phone as cargo: a declaration is to be given by the person importing the goods about details of goods.
3. In case of satellite phones being brought in baggage / hand baggage: satellite phones without licence issued by the Department of Telecommunication would be detained / confiscated, as per the existing procedures till the time the holder of the satellite phones is able to produce a licence issued by the DoT.
Please note the following before coming to the Embassy for applying for visas:
ii. Your passport must be valid for minimum 6 months from the date of commencement of journey to India.
iii. All Non-Norwegians (i.e. other foreign passport holders) should submit the copy of their residence permit.
iv. If non-Norwegian passport holder from EU / EEA, then submit your Registration certificate from the police instead of residence permit.
v. If an applicant holds dual nationality, then he/she should submit both the passports or copy of the second passport (first & last page, visa pages)
vi. Your passport, at the time of submission, must have at least two empty adjacent pages.
vii. Passport size photograph should be in color with white background and 50 * 50 mm in size.
viii. If your name has Scandinavian alphabets, then please use the English version of your name mentioned in the last line of the passport. (ø is OE, æ is AE and å is AA).
ix. All incomplete applications will be summarily rejected; passport and other documents returned; and fee not refunded.
