CHECKLIST FOR OCI FOR FOREIGN-ORIGIN SPOUSE OF CURRENT OR FORMER INDIAN CITIZEN

Applications for New OCI can be filled and printed from the OCI application website: https://ociservices.gov.in/
Uploading of photograph, signature, and supporting documents by the applicants is now mandatory.
All supporting documents to be mandatorily verified from its original at the Embassy.
Spouses of certain categories of Foreign-origin are eligible to apply for OCI cards provided that the following limitations are observed:
- The marriage must have been registered at least two years prior to submitting the application.
- In the event of divorce, the non-Indian spouse must surrender the OCI card.
- In the event of the death of the Indian-origin spouse, the other party may keep the OCI card provided he/she does not remarry.
- Both parties to the marriage should be present at the Embassy at the time of applying for OCI for a personal interview.
- Police Clearance Certificate from local authority in English and Apostilled.
- Letter/No Objection Certificate from the Government if the applicant is working in a local Government Organisation in English and Apostilled.
Copies of the following documents are required for OCI :
- Application form, signed and dated
- 2 recent (colour) photographs 5cm x 5cm
- All pages of present Norwegian passport, including pages without stamps
- Marriage certificate in English or Norwegian duly apostilled from Indian or
Norwegian authorities.
- If you were married in a different country than India or Norway, you must provide a certified translation into English of the marriage certificate.
- Bostedsattest (Address Proof in Norway)
- Spouse’s OCI card if applicable
- Picture page and address page of spouse’s current or previous Indian passport
- Picture page of spouse’s current passport
All copies self-attested
Note: The originals of the above documents also need to be produced at the time of submission of the application at the Embassy. After verification of the documents by the originals, appointment for interview would be given.
The following documents have to be uploaded on the OCI application website:
- Photo/signature (same photo you are submitting with the application)

- Copy of picture page of Norwegian passport
- Copy of marriage certificate with apostille stamp
Also a copy of the translated marriage certificate if applicable
- Copy of spouse’s OCI card if applicable
- Copy of spouse’s current or previous Indian passport
- Copy of spouse’s current passport
The applicant along with his/her spouse has to undergo an interview for which an appointment must be taken. Application for OCI foreign spouse will only be accepted following the interview.
The Embassy reserves the right to call for additional documents as considered necessary.
Applicants should also carry their original documents of all the supporting documents (as mentioned in the checklist) for verification at the time of submission of OCI application at the Embassy. The supporting documents will be verified with the originals and the originals will be returned to the applicants immediately. The OCI applications would not be processed if the originals documents including passports are not submitted for verification.
All documents/certificates issued by any foreign authority/government (other than Government of India) will be accepted only if they are apostilled.
