Dear friends,

As you are aware, the Government of India organizes Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) every year to reach out Indian diaspora abroad. In this connection, a session on “engagement with young members of Indian diaspora” was held on 16th Dec 2017, at the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, New Delhi. This session was part of a series of theme-based PBD sessions focusing on important issues related to our engagement with the Indian diaspora. The session was chaired by Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj. A set of seven panelists from abroad and two experts from India participated in the session and made presentations on different aspects of our engagement with young members of the Indian diaspora. The panel discussion came out with a set of recommendations to increase the Government of India’s engagement with the young Indian diaspora.

In view of the above, we would like to request all Indian Organizations / Associations in Norway to make special efforts to reach out to young members of Indian diaspora and encourage them to apply for OCI cards which will enable them to make short term and familiarization visit to India, and also encourage them to participate in Know India Programme (KIP).

The Embassy of India would greatly appreciate your kind cooperation, as always.
