Miscellaneous Consular Services

SEWA - Indian Consular Services System

Applicants are requested to apply for the following  consular services through SEWA-Indian Consular Services System. Submission of documents directly at the Embassy or by post will not be accepted. 

  1. Attestation, Power of Attorney (POA), & affidavit

  2. Attestation of commercial documents

  3. Death/Ashes certificate

  4. Birth certificate based on passport

  5. Life certificate

Applicants are requested to apply for the above services only through SEWA-Indian Consular Services System. Submission of documents directly at the Embassy or by post will not be accepted. 

Steps:

1. Please visit the website (https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in/consularServices/)  for availing various Miscellaneous Consular Services through Online Consular Services System (SEWA Portal).

2.  Please Sign up and create your account using the above weblink. Activation of your account will be done by using OTP received on your registered email ID. Once your account is activated, please login to your account and apply for the required miscellaneous consular service. Users can avail multiple services with the same account. Users may follow each step and fulfill the requirements of online application process including uploading the documents and submitting the same on the portal.

3.  On successful submission of the application, a provisional acknowledgment receipt will be generated which the applicant can print after login to his/her account.

4.  After scrutiny of the documents by the Mission/Consulate, the applicant will receive a confirmation message regarding submission of physical application and payment of fees. It can be seen in the dashboard of his/her account.

5.  Please refer https://www.indianembassyoslo.gov.in/page/consular-fees/ for method of payment and the applicable consular fees.

Original documents will be matched and verified with the uploaded documents. On verification of the same, service will be rendered to the applicant.

1. Attestation, Power of Attorney (POA), & affidavit

 Documents required during submission at the Embassy:

  1. Original document which is to be attested

  1. Original passport

  1. Copy of picture page and address page in passport, self-attested

  1. Copy of residence permit (if not Norwegian citizen), self-attested

  1. One Passport size photograph. 

  1. In case of POA , photograph of both Attorney and Executant is required.

Noteworthy points:

  • In case of witness, it should include full name of witness and signed with date and passport number. Please do not include witness column if there is no witness.

  • You must come in person to the Embassy and sign the document at the counter. (ON PRIOR APPOINTMENT ONLY. Request may be sent to reception@indemb.no)

  • If you are not a citizen of India, you must have your signature witnessed first by a Norwegian notary public (notarius publicus) in the document and Apostilled from Fylkesmannen (County Governor) You will then have to sign again at the Embassy in presence of Consular Officer.

  • Any document issued by the Norwegian authorities or by any other country has to be first notarized from local court and apostilled from County Governor.

  • Handwritten content (partial or full) of POA/Affidavit is not accepted.

  • Please number each page of the document and mention your passport number and signature with date. (In presence of consular officer)

  • Blank page has to be striked out and that page should also contain passport number and signature with date

  • POA/Affidavit is not accepted on stamp paper/e-stamp paper/legal paper.

2. Commercial Attestations

Before submitting the document to The Embassy, the document needs to have your signature witnessed first by a Norwegian notary public. The document must then be apostilled by Fylkesmannen.

Please provide the following documents:

  • Copy of executant’s passport and original passport

  • Copy of the company’s registration in the Brønnøysund Register

Note:All documents are to be submitted in duplicate as one copy will be retained by the Mission for its record.

3. Death Certificate for Indian National

Documents required for issue of Death Certificate to an Indian National (all the documents issued by Norwegian authorities need to be translated in English, notarized and apostilled):

  1. Passport in original

  2. Copy of passport, front picture page and address page

  3. Letter stating request for Death Certificate

  4. Medical Certificate stating cause of death and deceased’s details(from official government body) in Norsk and English.

  5. Copy of informant’s passport (spouse, next to kin, etc.)

  6. District Court statement about foreign citizen’s death in original and details about person’s death in English.

Extra documents required for transporting the dead-body to India(all the documents issued by Norwegian authorities need to be translated in English, notarized and apostilled) :

  1. Certificate of Embalming of body from Hospital

  2. Certificate that the body is placed in a zinc-lined coffin.

  3. Declaration that the coffin contains nothing but the body.

  4. Certificate that the body is not contaminated with contagious disease.

  5. Authorization for removal of body from the police.

Extra documents required for transporting the ashes to India (all the documents issued by Norwegian authorities need to be translated in English, notarized and apostilled) :

  1. Laissez-Passer for Ashes from the Police in English

  2. Certificate from the Cemetery/Crematorium that the urn contains nothing but ashes of the deceased, and that the urn is hermetically sealed and does not represent any health danger in English and Norwegian

  3. Medical Certificate of Cause of death

  4. Report of death from local court

Fee: Gratis

4. Birth Certificate (Self) based on Indian passport

The following documents are required to apply for a birth certificate based on Indian passport:

  1. Current Indian passport in original

  2. Copy of current valid Indian passport – picture page and address page.

  3. Copy of Valid Residence permit front and back side

  4. 1 recent coloured photograph (5X5CM)

  5. Written application stating the purpose for which you are applying for the birth certificate (citizenship, etc.) and contact details.

The applicant has to be physically present in the Embassy of India, Oslo for submission of documents. Regarding appointment, e mail may please be sent to reception.oslo@mea.gov.in

5. Life Certificate

Documents Required

1. Original Passport
2. Copy of passport first and last pages and observation page , if any.
3. Original residence permit/Visa
4. Copy of visa /Residence permit both sides.
5. One photograph (5X5CM)
6. Copy of life certificate issued last year, if available.
7. Pension letter/ copy of pension letter
